hej my fellow members, long time i posted something, but in the future i'll try to post some more. now i've got a question for you. i would like to help in the slow progness of vista by using it, but i need to know if boinc runs fine on it.
Welcome back to the forum. I have been a little lazy about translating info into English for some time, as I thought nobody was there to read it. I will do that again.
I know nothing of Vista - maybe other users do. Would you be kind enought to leave a link? Maybe we should create a team.
Kind regards
Kirsten
PS. BTW, have you seen our new personal statistics. It shows stats for all the projects you take part in - well, all BOINC@Denmark projects that is. An easy link is in the Quick stats menu.
Vista is the official name for the next version of Windows, for a long time, it was known by it's code name "Longhorn". The official release of Vista has changed several times, I believe we are now looking at next year. The versions around at the moment are various "beta" editions.
I would expect BOINC to work as it is not really a terribly sophisticated piece of software. That said, I do not have a machine free at the moment to load Vista and try. If you do, perhaps you could keep us informed!
Beta's vary, I have the IE7 Beta and use it 90% of the time, but certain things simply do not work, so for my netbank for example, I have to use FireFox. The version number changes almost weekly so the Beta I am running now is several months further developed then the first I had which, frankly, sucked.

Oh, THAT Vista. I tested a beta version once, but I removed it again. I do not recall exactly why. I suppose much of my software did not work too well with Vista. The mix of different languages does not always work, and the various beta versions of Longhorn/Vista are still just in English AFAIK.
thx for the help people, but i just read that i have the minimum of ram needed to run vista. so it won't be a problem, but i'm not going to go for it. i'm affraid it will slow down boinc, and thats something we can't have
I have today (this Morning) looking on the Vista Machine ..
Sorry to say it's Slow on Vista , But not much .. My machine normaly take About 45 min to do a Unit On Win XP The same Machine can do it in about 50-51 Min per Unit... So A little Bit Slow Down on Vista But in runs Okey. so while i'm running On Vista i think it okey to run boinc
Better to get some credit than nothing at all.
BTW My Machine
Hp AMD 3700+ 2 GB Ram 2 x 160 GB HD's ( One for XP) ( One FOR VISTA)
It seems to be a trend. My Win 95 machine crunched faster then NT4 on the same hardware. Looking at my stats, my NT4 system reliably returns more work then my XP machine.
